About the project

HÓDIKÖT's story begins in 1889, when master hosiery maker József Kokron founded a small workshop in Hódmezővásárhely. Over the decades, the business grew into one of the city's most prominent industrial enterprises — at its peak employing over 4,000 people.

The factory produced stockings, knitwear, and sportswear, with its products sought after across Europe and Africa. After the fall of communism, production ceased and the building stood empty for years — until now.

During the conversion, the original load-bearing frame and the floor slabs are preserved. Mechanicals, interior walls, finishes, and windows are all brand new — construction is delivered to the quality standard of a turnkey new build.

Somogyi Öthalom Kft. is transforming the former factory at Teleki utca 18 into an energy-efficient, modern residential building with 14 apartments. The ground floor provides 12 covered parking spaces, the 1st and 2nd floors each hold 5 apartments, and the attic level adds 4 more. The building includes an elevator, with handover planned for the end of 2026.

All apartments are delivered turnkey with a choice of floor and wall finishes. The building is A+ energy rated, featuring underfloor heating, heat pumps, and triple-glazed windows. Every apartment comes with a complimentary storage unit. Residents can also purchase parking spaces in the underground garage.
